remembering Ray Bradbury...
Never felt 'connected' to 'science fiction' (sorry H.G.Wells) until I read work by this guy...Why? Bradbury goes beyond science fiction...a kind of teasing, taunting, surrealism...

some sad sounds of the lockdown universe...
Last year, in the lead up to her birthday my niece apparently asked one of her dolls to come to her party, and then acted out the doll saying "I can't, I have to say home. everyone has to stay home"

Akira Ifukube's birthday...
Intrigued by the Google home page image today...I had no idea who Akira Ifukube might be...He was a classical + film music composer best known for his contribution to the Godzilla films and 'A Thousand Paper Cranes' (1953).

remembering Sydney's Palace theatre...
I have featured details of the old Palace on my Gemma's Greyscale Territory blog...I must celebrate this post. Long ago, I worked casually on the Hoyts theatres' circuit... The Palace was one of the theatres. Loved the personality of the old girl. Most intriguing were the massive wall to wall to ceiling mirrors backstage + the old Tank Stream flowed below. https://t.co/gRjW6oFldu

Beethoven's 250th birthday today...
BEETHOVEN'S 250TH BIRTHDAY! b.16th Dec.1770. No composer left a mark on music quite like Ludwig van Beethoven. He took the popular forms of his time — symphony, string quartet, piano sonata, opera — and stretched them to their breaking points.https://t.co/xIfmNXxDdo
— Gemma Wiseman (@AuraGem) December 16, 2020
LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN (1770-1827)struggled with mental+physical issues. He was abused by his alcoholic father+contemplated suicide due to loss of hearing. Beethoven first noticed hearing difficulties c. 1798, when he was about 26. By the time he was 44 or 45, he was totally deaf. pic.twitter.com/wE4RLJyZLn
— Gemma Wiseman (@AuraGem) December 16, 2020
ODD BEETHOVEN FACTS: Beethoven’s father pulled him out of school when he was 10 years old, hoping his talent would translate into profit. As a teenager, Beethoven supported his family. Beethoven’s handwriting is so bad that musicologists struggle to authenticate his signature. pic.twitter.com/6gDwLPQdHl
— Gemma Wiseman (@AuraGem) December 16, 2020
Could this be true? Beethoven poured icy water over his head to promote creative thinking? pic.twitter.com/f5lS32U9Vb

Beethoven, challenged to an improvisation duel, turns his competitor's music upside down and plays? But wait...There's more... pic.twitter.com/VtIJzW5fps

Beethoven was devastated by deafness, but he didn't let it beat him. Some of his greatest works were written after he became deaf... pic.twitter.com/4P8K0W3u1s

celebration/birthday thoughts...
I've never been comfortable with a celebration of me in the limelight... birthday or any other reason... It doesn't seem right, somehow... Re birthday, I prefer to simply do something different...go somewhere new...maybe experience something new out of my comfort zone...Progress?

Lockdown inspires creativity. It was my young teacher friend's birthday yesterday. She celebrated with family + masks and dogs, in a nearby park at 4:30pm, food courtesy of Uber Eats. Melbourne weather was kind. She loved it. pic.twitter.com/dKLsxOR1oF
