Intimate dining outside surrounded by others... A very real paradox that works... https://t.co/G0AWGpbq0Y— Gemma Wiseman (@AuraGem) May 3, 2020
Connecting moments in my peninsula world, my Australia and beyond...Whatever speaks to my thalassophile soul in these tidal days...

intimate dining outside...
the man from Carrick...

NOTE: I lived in the north of Tasmania for just over a couple of years.
Often, I travelled the byways seeking unusual places...and there were plenty in the north...
Today the Tasmanian Copper and Metal Art Gallery is at Carrick.
(It used to be known as the Tasmanian Copper Gallery).
I bought this butterfly when the original owner, Mirek Marik, (my Rasputin character), was still there...
There is a story behind the Marik family -
Saturday , April 5th 1978 is a date the Marik family will never forget.
The 120 year old "Archers Folly" building in Carrick that was used as a studio, workshop and gallery for unique styles of flame painting on copper was destroyed in a tragic fire.
Today, the Mariks have constructed a studio next to the gutted building.

wistful watcher...
Just before I set off on my Sunday wander today...
I saw the wistful face of a little one in a car near me...
I watched for several minutes
and the little one was motionless...
steady, quiet patience
and faith
in action
to read is...
To read is to appreciate worlds that have gone before (Ken Follett) and worlds that may yet come...(Margaret Atwood and Ray Bradbury). Then there are the worlds that are timeless...(Emily Dickinson and Michael Dransfield)... Shakespeare seems to have all these worlds in hand... https://t.co/J31ueu5yo3— Gemma Wiseman (@AuraGem) May 3, 2020
reflection thoughts...
reflections reassess
time and space
line and shape
what was just a tree may become
a face quietly watching
a Sunday walk...
(Taking a leaf out of Anne Louise Avery's Goose tale yesterday...
'I will have a nice day despite it all, she determined,')
'I will have a nice day despite it all, she determined,')
So, on this rather grey, cold, 'maybe-it-will-rain' Sunday morning, I took a walk...
It's very hilly (steep) round my home...
My choice was to face the hills of Arthurs Seat, on what would be a short walk...
or take a short drive down the hill to Dromana,
park in the Hub carpark,
grab a little shopping...
and then walk the flat area...
which could lead into a longer walk and offer the opportunity to see more for my time...
(I think you can guess that I leant to the latter choice without much hesitation)...
Dromana homes are an interesting mix of
the old (tourist weekenders/holidays + permanent), the new (tourist + permanent),
the borrowed (Tuscan influences in colour and style) and the blue (we are by Port Phillip Bay)...
It's quite awhile since last I wandered my streets by the sea...
(usually I gravitate to the sea)
I was surprised to find so much I didn't know...
There is a Dromana Community Garden...
I loved both sides of the sign...
Sadly, the garden looked as if it was doing it's 'own thing' being wild...But still I was intrigued...
Finally, I just photographed the sign...
Adore the art of the rust from the back view of the sign...
Walking further, I looked for the quirky...
I was not disappointed...
I found this multi-purpose old wheelbarrow...
looking splendid in succulents...
and some quirky birds...
and mailboxes in a cute little house of their own...
And finally, I did not know that Dromana Recreation Reserve and Oval was granted this status...
(though I had seen medical emergency helicopters land there)
Walking streets close to home is not only great for the health...
but also can be a very interesting past-time...
even on a cold and grey day...

There should be far more of this kind of runway....natural wings in flight... https://t.co/XYcbSPxJPw— Gemma Wiseman (@AuraGem) May 2, 2020
butcherbird at dawn...
Only the lone Grey Butcherbird greeted my dawn today... But his greeting was swiftly cut short by a zooming noisy miner... https://t.co/JUQvTG2RVX— Gemma Wiseman (@AuraGem) May 2, 2020
