It has just risen, at 8:50am, to a 'toasty' 10 degrees centigrade on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. But add to the mix some vagrant winds, polka dot rains and some playful sea mist...

The previous lowest temperatures were recorded on June 30, 1983. Tarraleah Village, Butlers Gorge and Shannon in Tasmania all recorded -13 that day. However, the record for Australia's lowest temperature is held by Charlotte Pass, in the NSW Snowy Mountains, -23 degrees in 1994.
