Such a strange sight to see the Namib Desert, of southern Africa, meet the Atlantic Ocean. And nearby, an old German colonial town, Swakopmund, awaits to offer the curious tourists some hospitality. The desert is regarded as the oldest desert in the world. https://t.co/cYdR9887FF

desert meets sea...
in the Sonoran Desert...or Maui, Hawaii?...
If ever there is a plant with attitude and spunk, this one from the Sonoran Desert, Mexico must be it... https://t.co/G1YXIyUurN

Further investigation of this image - found to be endemic to Maui. It is known as Haleakala Silversword. A website states it is a protected plant in Hawaii. This very image and more details: https://t.co/kKcQaU5Ggz

(Still, the plant has spunk and attitude. Love it.)
secret weapon?...
Snow peas seem to have a secret weapon against adversity. Perhaps they have a message for us...

resilience in action...
Just when you thought, as a locked down Melburnian, you had coped with the vicious storm last night, there is now the 'after shock'... We are going to be a tough, resilient lot, we Melburnians, when all this is over... We'll be able to stand up proud... https://t.co/s5vgogv4Nl pic.twitter.com/0FSfGENv6D

Even when the going gets tough, there are those who offer some quirky humour to ease the tensions...
I guess that was too easy too. Now we don't have water either 😭😭

the wind gods love Melbourne tonight...
A rather graphic view of what's happening over poor old Melbourne... https://t.co/CjBA6EUr2A

As of November 2014, The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has defined its own regions.
They are: Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North East, East Gippsland, West & South Gippsland, Central, North Central, South West, Alpine and Melbourne.
And another point of view... If you want action...It's all happening in Melbourne right now... The wind gods love us tonight... https://t.co/4j3ayZ1dFC

We've just survived the wildest winds in Melbourne...a shelf cloud in action it seems...But while I loved the dramatic photos of clouds and seas, I adored this quirky comment about the fate of young spring blooms... https://t.co/HM0kjGTR5m

There was a strange window of winter temperature late this afternoon in Dromana - 17 degrees...Less than 5 min drive from Box Hill to Blackburn and I literally saw the temperature drop from 19 to 7 degrees on the car gauge. What the heck #melbourneweather

tea and a blackened pot...
I went to yonder gumtree hills to see Old Amos tonight.
— Tim Mallon (@PatMalo85776814) August 26, 2020
He was making his tea: a blackened pot bubbled with a bush stew.
I told Old Amos about the tucker I had in Italy, told him it was good.
Old Amos has never been on a plane.
And his pale eyes looked out to the hills... pic.twitter.com/8VpZEsGwbL

Sturt's desert pea on Boolcoomatta Reserve...
Boolcoomatta Reserve, a former sheep station, is about 100km west of Broken Hill, NSW + 470km northeast of Adelaide, South Australia. It has sweeping plains of shrubs + ephemeral wetlands. The native desert pea is SA's emblem + a symbol of mourning for Aboriginal Australians. https://t.co/Eup0vdOQqW
