A remarkable insight into a remarkable world leader...

To get 'a standing ovation across the country' after a 16-year term as leader suggests a highly respected, legendary role model... https://t.co/2Ho8Nvk7su
Connecting moments in my peninsula world, my Australia and beyond...Whatever speaks to my thalassophile soul in these tidal days...

Angela Merkel...
the excitement of little things in lockdown...
If you want to get a real good look at madness you need to fashion yourself a pair of these toilet roll binoculars. pic.twitter.com/FMamQWu3sF

I think I've had my share of excitement and entertainment. An electrician just fixed the smoke detector.

Time for a lie down to recover from the excessive thrill.
just gonna buy some more board shorts and walk around the bathroom

I hate gardening, but thought I'd give it a go today - sun's out, day off, nothing else to do. Got sprayed right in the face, trying to fix a blocked watering system. Best fun I've had in 18 months!

Coffee, walk the dog, bit of work, walk the dog, make lunch, another coffee, walk the dog, bit of work, call a mate, another coffee, then a G&T, TV, Bed. Same old really. Snore. Might rearrange the furniture @julia_zemiro style!

I chased the bird that the cat brought in - turns out it wasn’t dead - and then the cat as it chased the bird. So much excitement I then had to have a lie down.

surviving remote teaching/learning...
What's everyone got planned for lockdown today? I was thinking about gazing into the eyes of madness. Maybe a walk, too.
— David Milner (@DaveMilbo) September 8, 2021
Sounds so much like my story...You did not mention the dreaded word 'emails'...Do they ever end? I am learning that when I reach 5 o'clock, I stop...I just stop...(I start each day online by 7am...In early days of 1st lockdown in 2020, it was 5am start...I have improved...)
— Gemma Wiseman - on Bunurong land, Kulin Nation (@AuraGem) September 8, 2021
Yeah, this is crazy. I hear parents whinging about remote learning, well, many teachers as also parents. Feel like working 3 jobs ATM. Have to keep up with my own kids, still run a school for kids coming in AND teach all this at home. Yeah, then the real work starts. :(
— 7RockLists (@7RockLists) September 8, 2021
I do sympathise...Again, my story...Last week, parent-teacher interviews for 5 hours (beginning 3:30pm) after remote teaching...That was a killer...Marking's impossible...So far behind, yet I am working as hard as possible...But I take short breaks to revitalise+then go again...
— Gemma Wiseman - on Bunurong land, Kulin Nation (@AuraGem) September 8, 2021
Believe me, there are many teachers in our boat...That's what keeps me going...We're not alone...Yesterday, staff Google Meet after remote learning...lasted an hour...tedious...no need...teachers looked terrible...Indeed, one fell asleep...the one with 3 children at home...

sniffer dogs...
Interesting trial...Sniffer dogs could be on COVID frontline, detecting infected people at airports...

Colleen Eiser has been training dogs for Biosecurity Australia for 6 years + says the hounds could detect the virus through human body odour or sweat.

hairy pea plants...
Yesterday it was peas for pygmy marmosets and today I've ventured into the world of hairy pea plants...

Hmmm... Is there some kind of symbolism happening here?
Love the sunny colours framed in wispy feathers in these plants... https://t.co/gBN3lNUhaY

there's always a way to raise the community spirit...
Woah! Turns out we had over a THOUSAND households join us for #SolidarityPancakes on Sunday! I was initially aiming for 100! Overwhelming support to make it a regular, back this weekend. Who’s in?

That’s probably the best press conference I’ve watched. Especially with mentioning NSW. “It’s a sprint for NSW, but an egg and spoon race for others”. That made me laugh
— Andrew Young (@andrewy181993) September 7, 2021
Geez it’s nice to listen to a Premier whose message is clear and crisp .. who can string sentences together that actually mean something 👍🏻

Mate I haven't stood up a cheered for a politician in a long time but you got me off my chair today, keep it up and don't back down we've got you. #IStandWithDan

I can't help but make a comment on Scomo at this point:
He thinks he's a 'bloke' for the 'blokes' of the world...a club...so they can snivel over their sly jokes about others... Somehow, I doubt he is even at that level of being...He is the joke... I cannot believe that one person can be so removed from the title of human being...But there he is...pygmy marmosets eating peas...
Pygmy marmosets eating peas...

Just what I needed today to erase volcanic bursts of frustration...many emails (+remote lessons) re just a handful of students who really don't play the game of trying...nor want to do so...But we must record we've tried...+keep trying...Sighhh https://t.co/DyXQne78wQ
